going to see Alison, again…
November in Brixton, the unlikeliest host for Goldfrapp’s new folk sound? Nevertheless it should be yet another good show. Can’t wait!
Looking for Kevin at Lovebox 2008
We never did find the illusive Kevin! Never the less Goldfrapp were as amazing as ever Alison has a massive voice, their on stage presence was pretty spot on and the dancing wolf ladies were interesting to say the least. Their new sound didn’t get the crowd jumping quite like their old stuff but there was plenty mixed in.
The Strangelove tent was great in fact we spent most of our time between there and the main stage. The Stanton Warriors were a bit of a let down but the dj sets I’d never heard of were good! Especially Baraka Som Sistema who played a bit of Benga in the mix, well that was it, that very catchy tune kept re-emerging in some incarnation or another including C’s “where are you Kevin” pigeon song.
more bike porn…
Ok, so it’s getting to slight obsession point but hey it’s not doing anyone any harm except maybe giving D an earache. I’ve seen a few of these around Shoreditch lately:
As you can see they’re pretty cool, I know D’s got her eye on a Plug Freestyle, trust her to go for the bright green wheels! They do look good, especially face to face but I’m still leaning towards the Cotic Roadrat although these are pretty sweet too:
Argh, so many choices!!!
Bike Porn…
Just out of personal interest to see how my decisions change over the coming year here’s a pic of a rather lovely rodent I have my eye on for next years two wheel upgrade.
Yes unfortunately I seem to be getting more serious about this riding past time, unfortunate because at the moment I can’t buy all of the things I want
next year’s going to be an expensive one ![]()
On my bike!

The 2008 London Bikeathon was completed on Sunday with three new additions, I must say I was taken aback by the amount of people gathering at the starting line, there were thousands (I managed to get a few pics that i’ll post up once I find my camera cable). Perhaps not as many as I’d imagine the Marathon would attract (something that will forever remain only in my imagination!) but still a substantial amount! I noticed the rider numbers went well past the 7 thousand mark.
The weather was fantastic, lovely and sunny but not too hot so the ride was pretty comfortable, my bike suffered somewhat with a creaky pedal but it didn’t hinder the journey.
We decided to pass up the opportunity of extending our ride to the 26 mile much to my disappointment but a rather badly planned shopping delivery cut short our time so we wouldn’t have completed the circuit.
Unfortunately my rather poor attempt at fundraising rendered my participation as pretty useless except for the £10 I got from my lovely brother and the £10 entry free, I just hope the tshirt, medal and refreshments didn’t wipe out my small contribution!
All in all, it was a fantastic experience and we got to see a bit more of London, the quays round the tobacco dock were a nice addition to the route and the detour from the roads although not very busy was a nice break.
Next year we plan to do the 26 mile route, maybe even the 52 it just depends on how fit we get from a year of riding to and from work and how good our new bikes will be.
