Shame I missed this…
Can’t wait to see the film!
All the family? Really?
What can I say, it was a country show
Thanks to D for pointing this one out at the Tatton Park Country Show
going to see Alison, again…
November in Brixton, the unlikeliest host for Goldfrapp’s new folk sound? Nevertheless it should be yet another good show. Can’t wait!
Looking for Kevin at Lovebox 2008
We never did find the illusive Kevin! Never the less Goldfrapp were as amazing as ever Alison has a massive voice, their on stage presence was pretty spot on and the dancing wolf ladies were interesting to say the least. Their new sound didn’t get the crowd jumping quite like their old stuff but there was plenty mixed in.
The Strangelove tent was great in fact we spent most of our time between there and the main stage. The Stanton Warriors were a bit of a let down but the dj sets I’d never heard of were good! Especially Baraka Som Sistema who played a bit of Benga in the mix, well that was it, that very catchy tune kept re-emerging in some incarnation or another including C’s “where are you Kevin” pigeon song.

hi panda by jiji (I got the evil looking one
)
we had a gander at the China Design Now exhibition at the V&A over the weekend which proved to be a worth while visit, there’s some interesting work on show. although i have to say i wasn’t really as wowed as i thought i would be i’d still recommend a visit, it could be me being over critical or just a bit ignorant of the chinese design scene. (having said that the last issue of computer arts featured some of what i thought was great chinese work). the exhibition consists of three rooms one graphic design, one fashion and one architecture, personally i was least engaged by the fashion room not really my thing.
when all is said and done it’s a good little exhibition and the building itself is pretty cool too. if you get chance to i would have a coffee in the Madejski garden and sit by the fountain. whatever you do don’t loose your purse on the way home and end up stranded in Clapham!!
trafalgar square
it’s seem no matter where we are headed in london we always seem to end up at trafalgar square! not that it’s a bad thing, it’s helping me connect up the vast randomness that london appears to be at the moment. anyway we were walking past the other weekend on the way up to the west end theatre festival at leicester square and noticed this large gathering
one good thing about london is there’s always something going on, i think this was an anti racism protest but didn’t have enough time to stay and find out. as it happens we would have had time as we spent all of ten minutes at the theatre festival and ended up in a soho bar instead, we eventually got home at 3am. the other good thing about london? the night buses, even though you don’t appreciate them at the time…
all for a good cause
i’ve entered into the London Bikeathon this year to help raise money for leukaemia research. My sponsor page is looking a little pitiful at the moment so if anyone would like to give money to a good cause here’s the link: www.justgiving.com/michellebartholomew
