New Books mmmm…
I’ve been buying a lot of books lately and am in two minds whether or not to put up my book list, I think you can tell a lot about a person by the books they buy, I say buy and not read because chance would be a fine thing. Nevertheless I will read them eventually but until then they are nice to look at in times of need.
My latest arrivals that were delivered yesterday are; Flash Math Creativity and The Ten Commandments of Typography, I read the typography one last night it didn’t take long, there’s not really that much too it well as far as intricate type information goes as it’s mainly just examples of typography. The Flash one looks good on first glance though and I’m looking forward to getting stuck into it although I am probably going to have to wait until my uni course is over first.
Check This Out
Have a look at Polar Clock a great looking Actionscript clock by Pixel Breaker which is also available for download as a screensaver. The visual language is so simple it’s brilliant! It’s also got great movement the way it flows outwards from the centre.

What An Interesting Question
To submit to threadless or not to submit to threadless that is the question! And whether or not to colour it in is an even bigger question, any suggestions?
Where Have I Been?!
Seems I’m a late comer to the last.fm music revolution, never the less I got there in the end, check out my profile. If anyone has any good music suggestions post them up, I’m always looking for new sounds! I’m getting into World Music at the moment especially Indian Electronica, I’ve been listening to artist like Karsh Kale and MIDIval punditZ which are pretty cool! There’s only two issues I have; the lack of a pause button seriously annoying if you want to pop to the loo also there doesn’t seem to be an option to listen to the actual artist you type in, maybe I missed that?
Drop by and say hi if you have an account, and if you don’t you should seriously consider getting one.
Another good music site is pandora.com however, as it’s an American company there doesn’t seem to be as much of a selection. However there is a pause button, and you can search by song title aswell as the artists name which is good for a more refined search.
Latest Experiments
Here’s some experiments I’ve been doing for my stack interface. I’ve been playing around with fridge magnets and a radiator for inspiration, I was quite pleased with the result so I took them into Photoshop and played around with the colours, these are what I ended up with.
I’m not sure whether I will use any of them I just thought that they were pretty.
Field Trips
Field trips? What an excuse for a day off! Which is definitely not what I did yesterday
I even have proof!
Let me explain; yesterday I went on a “field trip” to the Panorama in Llangollen, for those of you who don’t know of it (everyone outside of Wrexham) it’s a long drive up a very winding narrow path, but it’s worth it when you reach the top and see the breath taking views of the Welsh countryside. Back to the point… At the moment I am doing a project for a new blog interface that works using RSS feeds, I have most of the technical aspects figured out in that it will take the form of a stack which contains a hierarchy of information. Aesthetically the project is nowhere near ready, so to move it onwards I have gone back to the visual research stage to add a bit of life into it, which brings me back to the panorama. As you can see in my flickr set at the top of panorama is a series of rock structures which are made up of fantastic layered rocks and shelves creating all kinds of patterns and formations. I have always had an interest in natural forms and the use of these forms and materials in design so it seemed like a natural progression for me to begin looking in this area.
On a completely unrelated note…
We went to see 300 last night and it was fantastic! It looked great the story was great, the dialogue was a bit cheesy in parts but it was still great. I recommend that you go and see it, definitely not one for the girly girls though.
